Course Equivalencies

Curious about how classes transfer back from study abroad? The following departments have approved courses from study abroad programs listed below. Click on your major or minor department to see courses that have been approved for the department. These are living documents that update as more courses are approved.

Note that this is not a complete list of courses that can be approved on OSA programs. Use this as a historical record and guide, but know that you are able to petition for additional courses to be approved with the appropriate department approver. If you have questions about whether or not courses you’re interested in will be approved for major or elective credit, please speak to your major advisor. It is at the discretion of your academic department to determine which distribution areas or major sub-field requirements may be fulfilled by your study abroad coursework.

Course Approvals by Department:

Not all departments have elected to publish a public-facing list, but your major advisor or department chair may offer course selection guidance on an individual basis. We are currently working with academic departments to improve transparency for course approvals and will update this list as more become available.

Courses with Core Attributes

Study abroad coursework pre-approvals are provided as a preliminary evaluation and are subject to change. Approval of specific courses is not guaranteed and may depend on additional factors, such as course availability, changes in program requirements, or updates to institutional policies. Students are strongly encouraged to consult their departmental advisors to ensure that their study abroad coursework aligns with their academic program of study and graduation requirements. It is the student’s responsibility to verify that selected courses meet degree requirements and maintain compliance with all academic policies. Tulane University assumes no responsibility for discrepancies or changes that may arise after the initial pre-approval process. Please contact your academic department for the most accurate and up-to-date guidance.

Non-Approved Courses

Is your study abroad course not approved yet? No problem! If you would like major, minor, or NTC core credit for a course that is NOT on the lists above, you should meet with the appropriate departmental advisor to have them complete the Course Equivalency Form.
