Community Development Initiatives in Rio and the Sustainable Favela Network

Theresa Williamson PhD will join us over Zoom to provide a guest lecture as part of the course Environment & Development (PSDV 3561). She is the founding executive director of Catalytic Communities, an NGO that has worked to support Rio de Janeiro’s favelas through asset-based community development since 2000. Catalytic Communities facilitates the Sustainable Favela Network, which is a grassroots network to recognize, strengthen, and multiply sustainability initiatives in Rio's favelas. This event is co-sponsored by the Stone Center for Latin American Studies and the Center for Global Education, and it is open to the public. Registration is required.
